BEHIND THE WRITING

Picture

Tamara Miller Davis, Author

a married mother of two and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran
From the beginning...
Tamara loved school as a student in Michigan, and she enjoys it as an educator in California, hence the setting of this novel. She has worked as a substitute teacher (in private, charter, and public schools, grades ranging from Pre-K to 12th), taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to international students at summer camps, and tutored junior-high to college-aged learners.
Where Tamara is now...
Mrs. Davis holds a bachelor’s degree and teaching credential in English.
While writing this book (2017-2020), she helped edit a friend’s first novel, published four articles, participated in poetry readings, attended literary club meetings, went to two writing conferences, won a countywide inspirational essay contest, presented penned pieces at two dance exhibits, and performed on stage via USA Today’s Storytellers’ Project.

Tamara is a member of the Writers and Publishers Network (WPN), Ventura County Writers Club (VCWC), and Women's National Book Association (WNBA). She is also a writer for the Ventura County Mom Collective.

Since publication, Despite the Buzz has been featured in the Ventura Breeze newspaper, Northern Express magazine, and the following newsletters: The Artful Editor, CSUCI Alumni, Fife Lake Public Library, The Ojai Hub, and The Townies.

The book was also promoted on these websites: Blue Jay Ink, Ojai Digital, The Confident Healer podcast, Soul Sessions with KK, Poppies Art and Gifts, Pixie's General Store, Horizon Books, The Book Commentary, and Readers' Favorite.
